Problems with 2.2 lite

Hey. I just installed a chip today, but there are trouble, when I have the chip on enable and start the box, it tries to start two or three times then the xbox starts blinking red on and off and dosen't start at all. I'm really new at this so bear with me, I have three switches one: Enable/disable, two: Protect/unprotect and three bank1/bank2. Have I understood right when I say that with disable you turn the chip off? (When it's on disable the game runs as usual). But what is the protect button for? What can the problem be? has my new bios fucked up, has some wires been removed from where they should be? Is this something that can be fixed?

If you have the swith on unprotected you can flash the bios on your xbox. If it´s is on protected the bios can´t be flashed.

What number appear on the top left corner when the lights blinks red?
